| Impact Coatings was founded in 1997 by Torsten Rosell and Henrik Ljungcrantz as a spin off from Linköping University. The basic idea was to develop PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) as a replacement for traditional wet plating.
We saw already an upcoming need for coating technology that is both more costefficient and environmentally friendly than traditional methods. 5 years later - in 2002 we delivered the first InlineCoater™ machine for industrial production. Two years later (2004) Impact Coatings was introduced on the stock exchange (Nasdaq OMX Stockholm First North). With enhanced resources we stepped up development of PVD coating processes and systems with a focus on turnkey solutions ready to be integrated into industrial production. Between 2007 and 2010, we developed and delivered the larger InlineCoater™500 machine. We also initiated a collaboration with one of the largest mobile phone manufacturers around MaxPhase™ contact coating. During this period, we developed the unique ReelCoater™ with focus on PVD coatings for electronic connector components. In 2011, we launched the Silver MaxPhase™ as a replacement for gold as material for the coating of electronic connectors. Today, Impact Coatings is an established supplier to component manufacturers worldwide including in the telecommunications industry.
Research and development is still the driving force in Impact Coatings business.
